A lot more people are going to get to know Big Tex. A documentary by local filmmakers Allen Mondell and Cynthia Salzman Mondell has been selected by the U.S. State Department for its 2009 American Documentary Showcase. A Fair to Remember captures the traditions and history of the State Fair of Texas. According to program director Betsy A. McLane, the showcase is "is intended to offer a broad and diversified look at American life, and the values of a democratic society, as seen by American documentary filmmakers."
