Batman and Dracula walk into a movie ...

spawnmovie_image_17_dp.jpgAside from the greatness that is The Dark Knight, I was distracted by a couple of things. Maggie Gyllenhaal is far better in the role of Rachel than Katie Holmes was. And, did you notice that a lot of the actors already have iconic characters in their pockets?

Christian Bale plays John Connor in the upcoming Terminator: Salvation; Gary Oldman played Bram Stoker's Dracula; Michael Jai White was Spawn; and Tommy Tiny Lister played "Debo" in the Friday series. (Guilty pleasure alert: He was also the wrestler "Zeus.") How's that for random?

Harry Potter film fans would say that Gary Oldman also is iconic in his recurring role as Harry's godfather, Sirius Black, a.k.a. The Prisoner of Azkaban...

Ah, yes. Yes, they would. Gary Oldman has also played Lee Harvey Oswald in "JFK" and Sid Vicious in "Sid and Nancy." Biblicists will point out that Christian Bale played Jesus of Nazareth in TV movie "Mary, Mother of Jesus." We could go on all day. Let's do.

I always think of Zeus first when I see Lister. All other roles take a back seat

Don't forget about Anthony Michael Hall. He'll always be Farmer Ted in "Sixteen Candles" to me.

Anthony Michael Hall? He's got a lot of them under his belt: Bill Gates (TV movie); Johnny Smith (TV's "The Dead Zone"); Whitey Ford (HBO's "61*"); and Huck Finn (TV). Sigh. Sadly, I knew all but Huck Finn off the top of my head. Sigh.
