I saw U2 3D earlier this year, and it was definitely worth it. Yeah, I would have enjoyed the movie either way, but I was definitely impressed by the technology. And while I didn't exactly feel like I was at the concert, there were moments I leaned to see around a head in front of me -- a head that wasn't actually in the theater. What do you think about this resurgence? Will you chose Journey to the Center of the Earth's multi-dimensional version over the flat-screened variety? Does it add to the movie experience, or is it merely a gimmick to put more bodies in theater seats? |

So far this year, U2 3D was the best movie-going experience of the year. By far.
I think this new 3-D obsession is here to stay, and I think it makes decent films extraordinary (see Beowulf).

We just saw Journey to the Center of the Earth- great 3D. The plot was so-so, but nice to see 3D effortlessly on a normal theater screen. As a 3D Photography buff for the last 20+ years, it's great to see this roll out to the masses.
The main thing now is that they don't rely on 3D to "make the movie", but that they still make a good movie as well.

I would have liked to have seen it in 3D, but there were no theaters showing it in 3D anywhere near Dallas - all were at least 30 miles away - Arlington, Mesquite, Lewisville, etc. Only 2D showing anywhere within driving distance.
