Not a lot of choices this weekend, so maybe its time to head out to AFI Dallas International Film Festival for its closing days. But if you do head out to the multiplex or art house cinema this weekend, why not stop by here and tell us what you thought. The Ruins wasn't screened in advance for critics, so share your thoughts. Should fellow moviegoers head out? Or save their $8? |

Let me express my supreme disappointment that The Ruins wasn't screened in advance. This makes me very worried for one of my most anticipated movies of the year. But I'm still going tonight to hopefully have bejeesus scared out of me. Screening or no screening, I'm sure it's still miles ahead of any of these recent rehashings (Shutter, Prom Night, et al).

So The Ruins definitely wasn't worth hiding. Not sure what DreamWorks was afraid of. What YOU should be afraid of is traveling to Mexico after seeing this. Absolutely terrifying. Will it join the ranks of the great horror classics of the past? Maybe not. But it's certainly better than all the Saws and Japanese remakes plaguing the multiplex.
