Not entirely movie-related, but bear with me: The last couple of days have seen a massive influx of candy on our humble fourth floor. (Promotion of some sort. Don't ask). Anyway, until this week, I had forgotten the flavorful intoxicating quality of the Lemon-Head. Tangy on the outside. Crunchy on the inside. Sublime in every way. I also remembered that as a kid I used to buy them and sneak them into the movies. Yes, I'm having a Proust-like sugar rush of memory. And so I ask: What is the greatest movie theater candy ever? You know where I stand. |

There are Whoppers, and then there are everything else.

Well, no movie is ever complete without popcorn. But you're getting all specific about candy, so I have to go with (1) Cherry Sours (which are just the best candy *EVAR*) and (B)Sour Patch Kids.
Of course, you need a cherry Icee to wash it all down. None of that Coke-flavored stuff. Cherry red goodness.

I do prefer the Whopper to the Milk Dud, if only because they don't stick to your teeth as much...

Sorry, y'all, but it's all about the popcorn, pickle and diet coke.

I'm sorry. Pickle?

You know, those big fat pickles that glow flourescent green. And contain a week's worth of sodium.

Pickles - the cheap moviegoers concession item of choice.
Personal movie choice - although no one carries them anymore-Sweet Tarts and Diet Coke.

I used to do the Sweet Tarts/Coke combo at baseball and basketball games. Good stuff.

I usually eat Reese's Pieces because they're just my favorite candy in general. But really, nothing tops popcorn and Raisinets.
P.S. - I've just gone into a sugar coma from what you've described, Holly.

When I was in high school, I used to mix Milk Duds in the middle of my popcorn bucket when I went to the movies. I seemed to like it then, but it doesn't sound very good these days.
As for pickles at the movies, I have the same distaste for a person eating a pickle in the seat next to me as a nonsmoker would have if someone puffed away in the theater.

Dots! I mean, you pick 'em out of your teeth for the rest of the day, but I love Dots.
I've also started kind of liking the pretzels - I go to NorthPark AMC, and they're actually not so bad. I don't think I could do the nacho's though. I have problems with day-glo cheese, or anything that has to be identified in the label as food - i.e., Cheese Food Product.

Twizzlers. Duh.

Milk Duds! I see the teeth-sticking as part of the charm.

If we're talking about candy and movie nostalgia, I lost a molar biting down on a Bit o' Honey in a theater once. Went to the bathroom, said, Huh, pocketed the tooth and went back to the movie. Not sure I've had Bit o' Honey since. This was back when I was supposed to be losing teeth.
I'm a Butterfinger fan. I have also done the milk duds in popcorn trick. It tastes good but it's too chewy.

Why do people think it is a good idea to eat a pickle during a movie? Please for the sake of everyone just stick with the popcorn or Sour Patch Kids!

"Pickles - The cheap movie goers concession of choice." Huh? I'm not even sure I get that. Oh well. I bet the ladies really feel like they're out with a balla, since you buy them Sweet Tarts and Diet Coke. Now *that's* a high-dollar date.
